Blinds for your home

Whether your goal is to control light, improve privacy, increase insulation, or decorate a room, today’s interior blinds offer a range of practical and aesthetic benefits. From traditional venetians to energy-efficient cellular systems, homeowners now have greater choice when it comes to the look and feel of their window treatments. [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]   Here are a few of the more popular systems on the market:

Cellular Blinds

Best known for their energy-efficient, insulation properties, cellular blinds feature honeycomb shaped cells that cleverly trap air between the window and the room. This low thermal transference reduces heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer, helping maintain a more constant, comfortable room temperature. So basically the more layers you have, the more energy efficient your shade system will be.

In addition to energy savings, cellular blinds also provide a variety of opacities, ranging from sheer, light-filtering options that are ideal for living rooms, to opaque blockout shades that work best in baby nurseries and bedrooms. Available in a range of single or double cell sizes to suit the setting and your décor, cellular blinds are manufactured from durable polyester fibre, which is known to repel dirt and dust better than natural fabrics. When completely raised, the blind stacks neatly and firmly against the header rail, virtually out of view.   [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation="top-to-bottom"] [caption id="attachment_4480" align="alignleft" width="690"]apollo-blinds-panel-glide-blinds-bifold-windows-interior Panel Gliding Blinds are ideal for large windows, bi-fold and sliding glass doors.

Panel Gliding Blinds

Ideal for large windows, bi-fold and sliding glass doors, panel gliding blinds are a modern take on vertical blinds in that the wide fabric panels glide into position before stacking neatly to one side. This contemporary method of providing sun protection and privacy complements both modern or traditional interior décor schemes. The simple headrail track system uses glider-mounted carriers, making them especially light and easy to operate. When the panels are opened, they move in a direction similar to that of a sliding door. This way, the blinds are totally out of the way when you need to use the door.   [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation="top-to-bottom"] [caption id="attachment_4485" align="alignleft" width="690"]hunter-douglas-roller-blinds-fabrics-collection Roller blinds work on a roller system that can be easily adjusted to different heights.

Roller Blinds

Simple, affordable and practical, roller blinds enable you to softly filter light or completely darken the room, depending on the fabric and texture you choose. They work on a roller system that can be easily adjusted to different heights. Once raised, the blind neatly tucks in on itself to ensure views are uninterrupted. Available with colour-coordinated brackets, they can be operated by the traditional spring-loaded system (simply hold the bottom rail and pull down), a chain (side winder), spring assist (ideal for larger blinds), or electronic remote control.   [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation="top-to-bottom"] [caption id="attachment_4483" align="alignleft" width="690"]hunter-douglas-roller-blinds-luxaflex-edge-technology-smooth-strength Patented roller blind EDGE technology promises smoother operation and "unrivalled inner strength."

Companies like Luxaflex also offer roller blinds with patented EDGE technology, the new roller blind hardware that promises smoother operation and “unrivalled inner strength”. Look out for the C-bus compatible motorised models that allow you to integrate operation with your smart home’s automation system.   [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation="top-to-bottom"] [caption id="attachment_4481" align="alignleft" width="690"]timber-shades-roman-blinds-windows-interior-lighting Roman blinds allow you to easily control light and privacy levels.

Roman Blinds

Usually controlled by a pull-cord, contemporary roman blinds come in traditional, tailored, tiered or traversed styles that allow you to easily control light and privacy levels. Customise your shade system by choose from cordless, top-down/bottom-up options, or continuous cord loop. As window treatments go, roman blinds add a certain softness you don’t find with hard coverings such as wood or aluminium blinds. And, depending on the style you choose – flat, looped, balloon or dog-eared – the end result can range from formal to relaxed.   [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation="top-to-bottom"] [caption id="attachment_4479" align="alignleft" width="690"]bruce-blinds-aluminum-venetian-blinds-red-door Aluminium Venetian blinds now come in a wide range of colours and metallics.

Venetian Blinds

Available in aluminium, timber, TimberLike or Ventex (polyester) fabric, venetian blinds feature horizontal slats that can be rotated to control the amount of light that passes through them. While aluminium is the cheapest, it’s also the thinnest, which means it doesn’t regulate the temperature as well as timber or natural materials. The plus side is that you can now get aluminium venetians in a wide range of colours and metallics, and slat sizes. Timeless timber adds warmth and style to interior spaces, with today’s venetian range available in lacquered, stained and painted finishes. Cleverly concealed operating mechanisms allow you to control the amount and angle of sunlight entering the room, as well as providing you with complete control over your level of privacy. TimberLike venetians blinds are better suited to wet areas like kitchens, laundries and bathrooms because they don’t absorb moisture. Ventex venetians, on the other hand, can be installed around the home as its acrylic coating helps minimise dust.   [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation="top-to-bottom"] [caption id="attachment_4487" align="alignleft" width="690"]dazur-shutters-vertical-blinds-tall-windows-interior Vertical blinds are always a practical and versatile window treatment.

Vertical Blinds

Versatile, functional, and easy to operate courtesy of a built-in wand, vertical blinds are a great choice for sliding glass doors, patio doors, windows and French doors. The vanes – the long, narrow strips that hang from the headrail – can be fabric, wood or hard vinyl. The versatility of vertical blinds is a popular selling point, as you can move them completely out of the way or tilt the vanes to adjust the amount of light from entering the room. Depending on the colour and material used in their construction, vertical blinds are also capable of allowing light to shine through them while they are closed, softly illuminating the room with a practical level of light.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
